Senior Center Kitchen Assistant

Requirements

Valid Oregon Food Handler's Card required and must be maintained throughout employment
Must successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification within six months of hire
Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers, coworkers, and the public
Experience working in a commercial, institutional, school, community, or similar kitchen environment preferred
Experience working with volunteers preferred

Job Duties

Assist with food preparation according to approved menus and standardized recipes
Assist with inventory management and maintenance of food storage areas
Receive, unpack, label, store, date, and rotate food products and kitchen supplies
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen work areas, equipment, appliances, refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and dishwashing stations
Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, cleaning equipment, and laundering kitchen linens
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
Provide courteous and professional service to participants, volunteers, staff, and the public
Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support daily meal service
Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

Full-Time
Monday through Friday
6:00 AM to 2:30 PM (30-minute lunch) or 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

Pay Rate

$18.00 per hour
